InterNACHI Certified Professional Home Inspector - NACHI16122305.
Insurance companies want an inspection of your home for risk assessment purposes. Without a report, they either will not insure you or provide you with DISCOUNTS.
Insurance Inspection Reports (Wind Mitigation, 4-Point, Roof Inspection) are my specialty.
I will explain to you the criteria the insurance companies use to Lower Home Insurance Costs.
After I have inspected your home, I'll provide you both a verbal explanation and a written report so that you know what steps you can take to have your premiums reduced.
If you decide to improve your home, I'll come back later to re-inspect & update the report.
The written-report will be used by the insurance agent to determine your premium.
Many Home-Inspectors are not qualified to inspect for insurance purposes because it takes special training and experience to conduct these. I am certified by InterNACHI and licensed by the State of Florida for both Wind-Mitigation and 4-Point Inspections. I conduct numerous insurance related inspections on a weekly basis in addition to other home-inspections.
Yes, especially if you are borrowing money to buy your home, then the answer is YES.
The reason is, you really need to know whether your new home will be insurable, and how much will the insurance premium cost you. Insurance premiums on 2 identical looking homes may differ wildly because one has great Wind-Mitigation qualities, while the other does not (roof-to-wall connection, opening protection, etc). This difference may make your purchase either feasible or not.
When we come out to conduct an insurance inspection, we will also point out (as a courtesy) any safety related issues you may have, and we do it in a nice respectful way.
Also, if we see any way that you can make changes to your home, in order to lower your premium, we will let you know before we file the report with the insurance company, just in case you want to make these changes.
Wind Mitigation: to see how many discounts can be applied to your premium.
4-Point: general insurability of your home
Roof Inspection: after you have a new roof installed, OR when the insurance company suspects your roof is nearing the end of its useful life.
